Practice Description
I have worked in the mental health field for fifteen years providing advanced clinical services to adults, children, and families. My primary work location is in Loudoun County where I provide individual, family, and couples therapy for residents of the County as well as supervision for master's levels students. I also have a secondary work location providing individual, family, and couples therapy for a private practice.
I have extensive experience working with victims of sexual, physical, psychological abuse, and domestic violence. I have worked with the seriously mentally ill population for most of my career treating clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, personality disorders, and other mental health disorders. I am passionate about helping those who require intensive treatment and lack appropriate community resources. I utilize Solution-Focused, Bowen, Cognitive-Behavioral, and ACT principles in my treatment of clients. The goal of my treatment is to help people function to their best ability. I focus on their innermost strengths and resilience with the hope that they are able to cope more effectively in their life.
I also have worked as a Supervisor at the Falls Church campus of Virginia Tech providing live supervision to master's and post-master's students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I have found this to be another passion in my work as I enjoy providing support to those who are beginning in the field. My approach to supervision is similar to my approach to treatment with clients. The goal is to help students and residents recognize their potential and strengths as a therapist, improve their ability to be present in the room, and develop tools to help their clients.
