Practice Description

I support couples and individuals as they seek insight and behavioral change regarding their relationships. Most often the goal is to help foster a growing autonomy in the client(s),in order to reduce self-defeating emotional reactivity and strengthen the capacity for confident,objective response to others.
I have taught family therapy as well as adult psychotherapy at the graduate level and have many years of experience working with couples on a broad variety of issues as well as providing individual and group psychotherapy.
People usually begin therapy at a time of crisis in their lives such as when they are experiencing anxiety, depression or relationship difficulties. My practice utilizes cognitive-behavioral as well as psychodynamic approaches in addition to family systems theory. I also attend to spiritual concerns as raised by clients.
