Dr. Saliha Bava, is an experienced, compassionate, and innovative couples and family therapist. She has been counseling since 1991. She uses a strength-based, collaborative and action-oriented approaches to help couples and families see their interactions and problems in a new and different way. Move beyond insight and learn how to get unstuck and reach your goals. She helps people to be creative designers of their lives in today's world of growing complexity.
Dr. Bava is a co-author of the "Relational Book for Parenting" which focuses on growing our relational intelligence in families. She works with couples and individuals. In addition to her therapy practice she is an Associate Professor at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry and the former associate director of the world-renowned family therapy institute--The Houston Galveston Institute. She is also an associate of the Taos Institute and an adviser for the Taos Ph.D. and Diploma programs. She is a performance theorist and methodologist with 15+ years of experience in using performance/play-based approaches in clinical, training, and research contexts.
She was the founding member and the training co-chair of the City of Houston’s Disaster Mental Health Crises Response Team since 2003. Saliha writes and presents on Collaborative Therapy, Postmodern & Performance Theory, trauma and disaster, creating learning communities, collaboration & leadership, and Social Construction research in action. Originally from India, she lives and practices in NYC.
