Name
Mark E. Mirante, M.A., LMFT, CMHS
Practice Description
Private practice for child behavior problems, parenting, couples problems, specialization in adolescent problems. Extensive experience working with ethnically blended couples and families.
Experienced and sensitive working with diverse cultures and lifestyles. 33 + years experience working with distressed individuals and families with high conflict and multiple problems. Comprehensive experience with families effected by chemical dependency.

All my experience as a therapist has been with a broad range of ethnically diverse clientele and often in ethnically blended families. I have worked extensively with clients who are survivors of chemical dependency (in themselves or their families) and domestic violence.

My approach to psychotherapy and counseling and supervision/consultation of providers of the same is down-to-earth, direct, systemic, contextual and relational. My approach respects and uses an understanding of the context of a problem and the relationships intimate with that context. This means that even while working with one person, I keep in mind the complexity in the connections that make us who we are. My style is, also, to work collaboratively with the inner strength and competence that I truly believe is in all of us. Doing so, I seek the learned and natural self knowledge of the other at all times while using the information and skills I have gathered from my own experience and study whenever appropriate. My desire is not to impose my knowing, but to empower yours.

My work is also at the same time collaborative and competency/strength-based. I mean here that I seek the learned and natural expertise of the client, consultee, or supervisee at all times while utilizing my gathered expertise from my own experience and knowledge whenever appropriate.
