Harnessing resilience in individuals, families and communities to enhance performance, achieve goals and overcome challenges; Focus on competence and empowering families to deal with transitions and relationships, e.g., premarital counseling, adolescent issues, aging. Specialty areas (1) Accessing Resilience to deal with major life crises; Trauma (human-made or natural disaster), PTSD, community organization & grief resolution; (2) Invitational Intervention: the ARISE MODEL: working with families struggling with addicted members (substances, alcohol, gambling, internet) to get them into treatment or self-help--also for getting people with chronic illness to start or maintain treatment; (3) couple relationships at all stages of the life cycle, e.g., pre-marital, 2nd and subsequent relationships; mature/older couples (4) gay, lesbian bi- and transexual relational issues (5) adolescent issues (6) relocation, cultural transition (7) past life regression hypnosis; (8) Physical illness, disability, preparation for surgery, living with pain and/or chronic illness; (9) business consultation, especially family business, (10) Performance Enhancement, e.g., sports, academics, business; (11) Death and Dying; (12) HIV/AIDS
