I am a Marriage and Family Psychotherapist in private practice in Brooklyn for over thirty years as well as the Director of Family Services at a large multi-modal private counseling center in Manhattan. Although continuing to work with individuals, for the last twenty years my continued training and professional focus has been on couples, children and families as it became increasingly clear to me that engaging the family group was so much more efficient and effective. This came not merely from having the additional information, but from being able to mobilize the inherent strength of the family and its' intrinsic, natural movement towards growth. As a therapist, I need only guide and focus this strength and movement. In addition to my clinical practice, writing and frequently co-hosting a bi-weekly radio program 'The Positive Mind' with Armand Dimele on WBAI-FM, I have also conducted supervision and training seminars for mental health professionals on family life education, adolescence and couples counseling as well as modified presentations for related professions at Brooklyn High Schools and Fordham University.
