I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in New York City and Connecticut with 28 years of experience. My areas of expertise are counseling couples with relationship distress and intimacy issues. I use (EFT), Emotion Focused Therapy. I also work with individuals and teenagers helping to provide insight and perspective into your problems while creating a trusting and safe environment. My work is client centered and collaborative using a systemic approach to facilitate change. I focus on process, attachment needs and emotions in order to deepen your experience in therapy.
I find the process of self-discovery, using a relational/attachment perspective, is exciting and challenging. I truly believe that people have an innate potential to grow and heal. You possess the needed inner resources to make these changes happen, allowing the real possibility of happiness and personal understanding.
What makes me successful as a therapist is my ability to pinpoint the issues and address them directly with clarity and compassion. I have many years of experience with: Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Stress, Relationship/Marital issues, Addiction, Co-dependency, Migraines, Eating Disorders, Low self-esteem, Career/Life transitions, Adolescent issues.
As a relational therapist I help you to repair a distressed relationship by focusing on emotion and attachment needs in your partnership. I will support both of you in expanding your emotional responses to each other while building a collaborative alliance together. I help you to normalize the painful feelings you are experiencing, enabling you to deal with core issues of hurt, shame, fear, anger or guilt, in order to repair the trust that has been broken. Together we can establish a more secure bond by expanding and restructuring how you cope with issues such as life transitions and crisis in a more flexible and resilient way.
