Practice Description
Beginning therapy is a courageous step. When we’re stuck, our options seem limited. We may believe that the future is bleak or hopeless. We may be upset with others, afraid of more loss or change.

To avoid uncomfortable and painful feelings, we may mask them with anger or turn to a fix such as drugs, alcohol, sex, or gambling. These ”solutions” don’t fix anything. Instead they create more problems. We can learn to soothe ourselves, remain calm and clear-headed when we face challenges.

No problem is insurmountable. We each have more ability and control over our lives than we know. We can solve problems and effectively negotiate our relationships, but we all need help at one time or another. We need respect and compassion— a safe, accepting, non-judgmental, and supportive place.

We can develop a positive, more realistic self-concept. Often, not taking good care of ourselves is central to many of our difficulties.

Do you need help to sort things out, make sense of your emotions, or see the situation differently? Let’s work together. I love what I do and find it extremely rewarding to see clients successfully overcome difficulty, solve long-standing problems, and confront challenges with confidence.

Successful therapy depends primarily on how motivated you are to change and the relationship you and your therapist build. You deserve a therapist whom you trust and in whom you have confidence.

Most individuals who come to therapy are stuck. They believe they have few options. They don't know their own power. I work with clients to help them expand their options, learn to take better care of themselves, find their strengths, and overcome their fears.

I won't tell you what to do, but I can help you see your situation and your options differently. So often clients will come in deeply distressed but will be able to laugh again. We all need help at one time or another. It takes courage to reach out for that help. Whether the problem is depression, anxiety, couple or family relationships …, it is not insurmountable. Finding hope again is essential. I focus on helping you generate that hope and new possibilities.
