Practice Description
I provide Individual, Couple and Family therapy to assist children, adolescents, adults and mature adults to acquire greater human effectiveness or modify feelings, conditions, attitudes and behaviors which are emotionally,, intellectually or socially ineffective or maladjusted. I use my training in hypnotherapy to aid individuals recovering from traumatic events in the near or distant past such as survivors of physical, psychological or sexual abuse, public safety and military personnel, industrial or vehicle accidents. I assess and treat youth and adults with ADD/HD. I provide counseling to individuals and families to help speed the healing process and promote wellness for patients recovering from life threatening illness or support if terminally ill. In addition to helping adults improve their relationships with each other and children, I provide Family Therapy for children and adolescents with behavior problems, anxiety and depression and adjusting to major life changes, e.g., changes in family structures, schools, loss, etc. As a non-medical therapist, I do not prescribe medications, but will discuss within the scope of my practice current or potential medications with your PCP or a PCP with whom you are referred during therapy.
After 55 years in the helping profession; 35 years in Solo Private Practice, I now work for Families, Couples and Individuals without the confines of set hours and spaces. We may choose to work in the office, Family home, a Care, Medical , Hospice setting; walking on the beach or in a park. Sometimes Individual sessions are by voice or Facetime on the phone. The Session time and place is predetermined from visit to visit; unless it is urgent or emergent. Because of contemporary Family lifestyles and schedules, sessions are more practical in early evening, Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon.
Positive change in relating to each other and the world occurs more by what happens between sessions than during the visit. Families, couples and individuals are to commit and follow through on "Homework" between sessions.

Healthplan
My Practice is similar to a Medical Concierge practice, but without any retainer fees. The focus of care is Personal, Prompt and Preventive. Fees for service are $80 for 60 minute hour visit and $120 for 90 minute Initial, Couple and Family sessions. Fees are paid at time of service by cash or check. I do not bill 3rd Party Payers. I provide the Insured with a billing statement, that Insured submits for reimbursement. Any disputes with 3rd Party and Insured is between them.
Language
Words are magic and powerful. Within the language of therapy, the use of metaphor and story has powerful positive value. When we are reactive , emotionally disorganized in our language toward others the impact can be devastating on relationships and the individual's psychic/self-worth. That is the power of "Talk Therapy"
