Practice Description
Alan Asher works with individuals, couples and families. He has been in the field for 40 years and is energized by the uniqueness of each person and each relationship. Alan has been in private practice for 30 years. Before private practice, he worked in public mental health settings and has experience in the following treatment areas; in-and-outpatient psychiatric settings, director of day treatment programs, rural community mental health, director of an out patient chemical depependency program, and director of a domestic violence shelter.
Treatment Philosophy: Alan sees team work as critical. This is a reciprocal working relationship, not one up or one down. He is familiar with a number of treatment approaches and works to put together the best fit for the person and their issues. He is particularly interested in the client's ideas about what motivates them, what works best for them.
Areas of Specialty: Couples and Families: premarital, marital, parenting, adolescence, affairs, extended family, blended family, divorce, and starting over. Indviduals: Anxiety, Depression. Wide scope issue exploration including; ADD, addictions, cross-cultural issues, personal growth,career issues, and spirituality.
