At times we struggle to keep a healthy balance in our lives. Neglecting our mental health needs is one key contributor to imbalance. Therapy can help to realign our focus and promote self growth to a healthier you. As a therapist, I take a very integrative approach, utilizing multiple theoretical interventions based on a person's unique needs. I work collaboratively with clients to help them in their growth process and act as guide to help each person reach a more holistic harmony within themselves. My name is Melanie Gonzalez, MAMFT, LMFT #116208, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the State of California. The following are some of the specialties I have, but for a more detailed please refer to my website.I received my masters degree from Syracuse University in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015. In addition, I received a Certificate of Advanced Study of Trauma from Syracuse University. Additionally, I completed training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I work with individuals who have experienced various types of trauma and are on the path towards healing.While at Syracuse University, I had additional training in working with the transgender population. This training involved helping clients towards hormone readiness and completing insurance referral letters for sexual reassignment surgery. I work with people of various LGBTQ+ backgrounds with an affirmative approach.I also work with couples on issues around intimacy, infidelity and communication. I integrate a Gottman Method and Attachment Theory approach to best offer insight and tools for couples to get more immediate relief and change.I am currently working on my doctorate degree, PsyD in Marriage and Family Therapy, at Alliant International University. Through my internship track at Alliant University, I teach masters level classes and supervise trainee clinicians. I work with individuals, couples and families.
