Practice Description
Psychotherapy provides a safe way to express emotion, understand patterns of thinking and behavior, gain insight into ourselves and our relationships, and, most importantly, create positive change. It provides an opportunity for enhancing relationships and achieving personal growth. My approach to therapy is best described as brief, relational, client-centered, and outcome-focused. I work with couples, children, adolescents, and adult individuals. Some of the areas I provide therapy for include Relationship Issues, Couples Counseling (including Infidelity), Family Conflict, Anxiety and Specific Fears, Depression, Lifespan Transitions, Academic/ Career Success, Self Esteem , Trauma and Abuse, & and Anxiety.
As a marriage and family therapist, I view each client’s problems within the context of his or her life and relationships. I believe in treating clients holistically, using a biopsychosocial approach to create desired change. I recognize and appreciate the mind-body connection. As such, I believe it is important for clients to consider the whole person, including both psychological and physical health, and will often suggest collaboration with other healthcare providers.
My training and work experience includes interning at a youth and family center, a staff member for The Gottman Institute’s Couple Workshops, an on-call therapist for Eating Recovery Center of WA (previously The Moore Center for Eating Disorders), a volunteer Crisis Line Advocate for LifeWire, and private practice.
I have completed the advanced training and am a Gottman Seven Principles Program Educator as well as a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Program Educator. I have completed Level 3 (of 3 levels) towards becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist.
