James E. Blechman has over 25 years experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychoanalyst, and Clinical Psychiatric Social Worker, and a Certified Group Therapist. He is based in New Canaan, CT and in Manhattan (on 5th Avenue and 12th Street).
James works with all issues affecting marriages and family systems.
Some of the issues worked on with couples include: Intimacy and relationship problems, improving communication and problem solving, infidelity and recovery from affairs and repairing trust, sexual issues, work/life balance, in-laws, finances, job stress, parenting, transitional issues such as divorce and mid-life, and creating a plan to keep the fun, excitement and adventure in your relationship.
Some issues for families include: Parent-child relationships, sibling relationships, adolescent issues, communication break downs, problem solving, parenting issues, step families, extended families. As a family, it is natural to face challenges together. Family therapy helps to develop tools to overcome these challenges and strengthen relationships with one another to create a supportive environment.
