Practice Description

I will work with you as an individual, couple, or family to help you solve a variety of problems. I am a systemic therapist. This means that I will consider how your relationships and other contextual factors may help you solve your problems. If you are seeking help for marriage or family problems, I will encourage your spouse and/or family to be involved because I believe it is the most effective way to help you solve a variety of problems.

At the beginning of therapy, I will ask you questions to help me understand the problems that bring you to see me. I will gather some background information but will mostly focus on the present and your future without the problem. We will set goals together and work collaboratively to identify the strengths you have to fulfill these goals. Once you feel you have achieved these goals, therapy will be over. The length of therapy varies for each person and depends on your goals. I generally function within the structural/strategic and solution oriented frameworks.

I am particularly interested in working with adolescents and their families and couples who are seeking relationship counseling. I have specific training in working with adolescents with sexual behavior problems.
